The rest of the year we describe vegetables as “ripe, heavy for their weight, mature, and fully grown” but in springtime we use words like” fresh, young, tender, and sprouting.” In fact, in other seasons, when gathering them we say “harvest”, but in spring we say “pick” or pluck”.
